As part of AIS Global’s work in assisting Vietnam to establish a pilot industry-led skills development framework for the logistics sector, we hosted two delegates from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (VCCI) for an intensive 3 week ‘on-the-job’ training opportunity held at the AIS head office in Melbourne. This training opportunity provided participants with unprecedented exposure to the Skills Service Organisations (SSO’s) internal systems and approaches that underpin the operations of 11 key Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) in Australia.

The delegates received practical exposure and skills development in a range of specialist areas that included:

  • Secretariat planning and services, policies and procedures, support systems, IT infrastructure.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communications.
  • Industry intelligence gathering, research and analysis, drafting and validation of Industry Skills Forecasts.
  • Occupational Standards consultation and data gathering techniques, technical standards drafting and industry validation.  This includes aspects critical to ensuring the quality of training and assessment.

Throughout the program the participants were matched with relevant AIS experts who provided valuable guidance, teaching and mentoring in their specialist areas.  This program was followed up by mentoring sessions with the participants after the program through regular Skype sessions, helping each participant contextualise and apply their learnings back in Vietnam.  This level of input provided by AIS Global ensures that the development of Occupational Standards is underpinned by proven high-quality systems and strong in-country capability.

The program exceeded the expectations of the delegates and is one of the many contributions AIS Global has made in the provision of strategic and technical support to our international clients.
